Telkom Flash Unlimited on Linux Ferdora 8


telkomsel flashTelkomsel Flash Unlimited high speed access is enabled by High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology. High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is the evolution of 3G technology (commonly known as 3,5 G) that can produce higher speed of data access compare to 3G. Theoretically, HSDPA can achieve download speed up to 3,6 Mbps while 3G can only achieve maximum 384 kbps.

For access Telkomsel Flash Unlimited can be use modem devices. Telkomsel Flash Unlimited USB Modem is a modem that has been customized to fit with Telkomsel network setting. This makes the modem easy to install and use (simply plug & play). With USB Connection, this modem can be use either on laptop or PC (desktop).

My modem devices for access internet connection with Telkomsel Flash Unlimited use Huawei E220. On Linux Fedora 8, Modem Huawei E220 working properly any time you plug it . The modem Huawei E220 device will appear like /dev/ttyUSB0.

This is setting wvdial on Linux Fedora 8 with modem Huawei E220 :

  1. Run wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
  2. Edit /etc/wvdial.conf
    This is my wvdial.conf and modem device = /dev/ttyUSB0

    [Dialer Defaults]
    Init1 = ATZ
    Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
    Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,”ip”,”internet”
    Modem Type = Analog Modem
    Dial Command = ATDT
    Baud = 460800
    New PPPD = yes
    Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
    Phone = *99#
    Username = ”
    Password = ”
    ISDN = 0
    Auto DNS = 1

  3. Edit /etc/resolv.conf
    nameserver 202.3.208.10
    nameserver 202.3.210.10
  4. Run wvdial. Before run wvdial you must stop network with /etc/init.d/network stop

Ok now, you can access internet use Telkomsel Flas Unlimited in Linux Fedora 8 with modem Huawei E220.
